Brand origin
Hans Wilsdorf founded Rolex in London in 1905 with his brother-in-law Alfred Davis, importing Swiss movements and housing them in English cases. Wilsdorf moved the company to Geneva in 1919 and spent his life obsessively proving wristwatches could be as precise as pocket watches.
Heritage
Founded in London, headquartered in Geneva since 1919, Rolex is owned by a non-profit foundation and reinvests profits into watchmaking and philanthropy. It pioneered the waterproof Oyster case (1926) and the self-winding Perpetual rotor (1931). Every modern Rolex is COSC-certified and Superlative Chronometer tested.

Stainless steel sports models (Submariner Date, GMT-Master II, Daytona) have long waitlists at authorised dealers and trade at a premium on the grey market. Vintage references with rare dials, original boxes, papers and service history command extraordinary prices at auction.
