Intrecciato — woven leather, no logo needed.

I

Brand origin

Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro opened their small leather workshop in Vicenza, Veneto in 1966, perfecting the Intrecciato weaving technique that would become the house's signature. They deliberately avoided logos, letting the craft speak for itself.

II

Heritage

Founded in Veneto in 1966 with a single craft signature — the woven Intrecciato leather. Logo-free by philosophy. Daniel Lee's 2018-2021 tenure made the Pouch and Cassette ubiquitous; Matthieu Blazy (2021-2024) brought trompe-l'œil tailoring and the Andiamo bag. Louise Trotter took over in 2024.

House codes

  • Intrecciato woven leather
  • No visible logo — recognised by craft
  • Bottega Green (Lee era) and Parakeet Green
  • Knot clutches
  • Hand-cut, hand-woven nappa

V

Collectibility & resale

Lee-era Pouches and Cassettes in rare colours have a strong resale floor. Vintage Cabats remain quietly collectible. Bottega is more about craft and quiet-luxury status than aggressive appreciation.

Most Bottega Veneta pieces resell at 50-75% of retail in good condition. Limited colourways from specific creative-director eras (especially Lee's Bottega Green) outperform.

VI

Spotting the real thing

  • Intrecciato weave is perfectly uniform — strap widths are identical throughout.
  • Leather is soft, supple nappa — never stiff or plasticky.
  • Authenticity card and serial inside the bag.
  • Stitching is invisible on Intrecciato pieces — the weave does the work.
VII

How to acquire

Available through boutiques and online. No formal waitlists for most pieces. The Andiamo and seasonal limited colours sell out quickly.
